1) The exhibition “Transformations” on Wednesday evening, June 11
The event takes place in an old brewery building in the city centre of Lahti, where Malva unites two museums from Lahti – the Art Museum and the Poster Museum – as the museum of visual arts. The Lahti Museum of Visual Arts Malva was opened in 2022. The exhibition “Transformations,” for which a dynamic relation to nature acts as a starting point, brings works by Olavi Lanu (1925–2015) into dialogue with his own contemporaries and with artists working today. Lanu is known as a pioneer of Finnish environmental and site-specific art. The event will start soon after the conference’s main programme of the day closes. The event fee is 25 EUR and it covers the entrance to the museum and an introduction (20 min.) to the exhibition. The event will be organized if we get 15 registrations. Maximum number of participants: 60 persons.
2) Guided walk to the Nearby Forest on Wednesday evening, June 11
Come and experience urban nature in Lahti! The excursion takes you to a short, guided walk (c. 2 hours) into the genuine forest environment in the area of the Lahti Sports Centre. No special equipment is required besides good shoes for walking. There are some downhill and uphill stretches along the way. During the walk, you will learn about the geology and history of the area, which is a part of the Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark. The tour is free of charge and includes a small snack. The event is provided by the EU-funded project “Local Nature as business booster.” At the end of the tour, you will be asked to fill in a short questionnaire about the forest walk. Maximum number of participants: 40 persons.
3) Late evening sauna at Myllysaari on Tuesday, June 10
The event takes you to enjoy the Finnish sauna culture, the lake Vesijärvi and the nightless night of midsummer at the unique small island located in the lake Vesijärvi. We will arrive to the island by bikes (or by taxis in case of bad weather), enjoy sauna and swimming, and then come back to the city centre when the day gets a bit darker. The event fee is 55 € including sauna, a towel rent, bike rentals/taxi rides, and some drinks. Participants need to bring their own swimwear with themselves. The event will be organized if we get 10 registrations. Maximum number of participants: 20 persons. Places are reserved in order of registration.
